SUMMARY:National High School Rodeo Association – NHSRA
DESCRIPTION:he National High School Rodeo Association is one of the fastest-growing youth organizations\, with an annual membership of approximately 12\,500 students from 43 states\, Australia\, Canada\, Mexico\, and New Zealand. The Association sanctions over 1\,800 rodeos each year. The NHSRA is governed by a national Board of Directors\, which consists of one member from each state or province. Staff members at the national headquarters in Denver\, Colorado handle the day-to-day operations. \nEach year\, the NHSRA produces the two elite youth rodeo events in the world – The National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) and the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR). The NHSFR is the “World’s Largest Rodeo\,” featuring approximately 1\,500 contestants from across the United States\, Australia\, Canada\, Mexico\, and New Zealand. Athletes vie for national titles\, assorted prizes and their share of thousands of dollars in college scholarships. Action at the event is non-stop\, with rodeo performances being conducted twice each day. The top-twenty contestants in each event then advance to a final round of competition to determine who will walk away with the coveted championship buckles. Boys events at the NHSFR include Bareback Riding\, Bull Riding\, Saddle Bronc Riding\, Tie-Down Roping\, Steer Wrestling\, Team Roping\, and Cutting. Girl’s events include Breakaway Roping\, Barrel Racing\, Pole Bending\, Goat Tying\, Cutting\, Team Roping\, and the NHSRA Queen contest. Boys and girls compete together in Team Roping and Reined Cow Horse. \nHow to Join: \nWant to know how to join the NHSRA? Simply contact your local state or provincial secretary for more information. A list of secretaries and directors may be found by clicking under the “Contact” menu along the top of this page. In addition\, the NHSRA offers a variety of unique opportunities to members of the Association\, including the “Professional’s Choice Student-Athlete of the Month” and the “Professional’s Choice Equine of the Month” programs. For more information on these opportunities\, simply click the link under the “Programs” menu along the top of this page. \nIf you have any questions about the National High School Rodeo Association\,\nplease contact the NHSRA national office at 1-800-466-4772.

SUMMARY:National Junior High School Finals Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:Created in 2004\, the NHSRA Junior High Division was established to bring the excitement of the sport to 6th\, 7th\, and 8th graders and to serve as a feeder system into the high school ranks of the Association. Junior High Division students compete in a variety of events\, including Barrel Racing\, Pole Bending\, Goat Tying\, Breakaway Roping\, Tie-Down Roping\, Chute Dogging\, Team Roping\, Ribbon Roping\, and Junior Bull Riding\, Bareback Steer Riding and Saddle Bronc Steer Riding. \nEach summer\, the “best of the best” from each state and province qualify for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo. Approximately 1\,000 competitors show off their talents in the event and compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes. Gallup\, N.M.\, hosted the NJHFR from 2005 through 2013. The rodeo moved to Des Moines\, Iowa\, for 2014-15 and was hosted by Lebanon\, Tenn.\, in 2016-17. After Lebanon\, we moved to Huron\, SD for 2018-19\, and will arrive in back in Des Moine\, IA for 2020-21. \nHow to Join: \nWant to know how to join the NHSRA Junior High Division? Simply contact your local state or provincial secretary for more information. A list of secretaries and directors may be found by clicking under the “Contact” menu along the top of this page. In addition\, many of the same programs that are offered to high school members of the NHSRA are also offered to junior high members as well\, including the Professional’s Choice Student Athlete of the Month and the Professional’s Choice Equine of the Month. For more information on those programs\, simply click the link under the “Programs” menu along the top of this page. \nIf you have any questions about the NHSRA Junior High Division or the National Junior High Finals Rodeo\, please contact the NHSRA national office at 1-800-466-4772.
